Alerts & Warning Systems
REGISTER TO RECEIVE EVACUATION NOTICES AND FIRE INFORMATION
During wildfires, Lake County residents should be prepared to monitor multiple sources for fire and life safety information. Emergency managers will use several methods to distribute fire information: Nixle, LakeCoAlerts, Social Media, local TV and radio. Don’t forget to use your own senses and stay vigilant of changing conditions.
Watch Duty (unofficial, but useful information)
Watch Duty is a service, not an app, powered by over 100 volunteers – firefighters, dispatchers, and first responders – who diligently monitor radio scanners and other official sources 24 hours a day to send you the most up-to-date information.
LakeCoAlerts
LakeCoAlerts is a notification system offered by the Lake County Sheriff for local mass emergencies, including wildfires. We highly recommend signing up for both Nixle and LakeCoAlerts to help make sure you are getting all notifications.
Social Media
Social media outlets such as Facebook can be excellent sources of public information and may be used by local agencies during emergencies. Be sure to follow your local fire department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office (@lakesheriff), Cal Fire’s Sonoma Napa Lake Unit (@CalFireLNU), and your local police department to monitor fire information and receive updates during local wildfires.
Emergency Fire Sirens
Fire Sirens have been installed in Loch Lomond, Cobb, Anderson Springs, Middletown and Hidden Valley Lake.
