The Valley Fire revealed a powerful truth: recovery is only possible through collaboration. In 2015, government agencies, nonprofits, fire districts, faith-based groups, and countless, volunteers worked together to protect lives and support survivors. That same spirit of partnership continues to shape Lake County’s wildfire preparedness today. Over the past decade, investments in wildfire risk reduction, stronger fire district partnerships, and community education have made our county more resilient. None of this would be possible without the tireless work of many governmental, private, and community organizations, and the dedication of individuals all working together to make this 10-year anniversary possible. as we honor the lives lost, residents are encouraged to attend these public events, support local fire districts, and create defensible space around their homes – actions that keep our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared for the future.
